Impatient you attempted to
resurrect me from the debris,
stacking and ordering the parts you
deemed in need of restoration.
Plugging leaks and cracks with
yesterday’s hopes and tomorrow’s dreams,
ignorant to my feet not anchored
on solid ground but shifting sand.
Standing back to admire your handiwork,
your accomplished smile and deaf ears
failed to notice the half built heart
weeping in my chest.
